Is it illegal to sell a real slot machine from Las Vegas on ebay?

You should be fine assuming

A) Its not stolen

B)It hasnt been converted to use money instead of tokens.

No, he wouldn't be fine. Ebay rules specifically forbid the sale of slot machines. http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/slot-machines.html Furthermore, it's against the law in many states to have or transfer slot machines. There may or may not be expections for machines that are clearly antiques, but in quite a few places not even these are premitted.

Seriously, if you don't know then don't give someone advice. Sticking a slot machine up on Ebay could cost the guy his Ebay account, which might be the way he earns his living of part of it. It could cause the closure of his pay-pal account, everyone knows what a nightmare pay-pal can be and other hassel.

"eBay will not generally permit the listing of coin-operated slot machines on its website. The sale or even ownership of coin-operated slot machines is regulated or forbidden in a number of states, even for personal in-home use. The laws are often complex and may subject violators to criminal penalties. To see any exceptions to this policy, please expand the Examples section below."

The term "coin" is defined as a piece of metal stamped and issued by the authority of the government to be used as money. Therefore, logically you would be allowed to trade slot machines that use tokens instead. But HONESTLY, why are you asking for ebay advice on a hockey forum? You really should double check with ebay staff.
