disadvantages to 2 piece sticks

uh... heavier than one-piece?

Actually, you won't feel like as it is one-piece.

Did you say ST blade not Syerngy II? good luck with that.

What I meant is not that synergy II is necessarily better. However, synergy II will help you a bit when you chop your SE and will save length.

Other way around.

When you cut the SE for tapered blades, you will lose some length due to the solid blade hosel inside the shaft. This can easily be remedied with a butt end.You need to cut the shaft in the right place, otherwise tapered blades will not fit into the shaft (cut too low and it's still solid, cut to high and the blades will be too loose.)

To fit a standard blade (like the ST blade,) you can cut your SE pretty much wherever you want. Standard blades fit in the handle end of the stick (you'll be using it upside down/flipped). When cutting for standard blades, all that matters is that you get the proper length for you, as you don't have to worry about any blades fitting in the end that you cut.

The disadvantage that you will have with the ST blade is that the kick of the shaft will not be in the proper place, but it can still make for a well-performing stick. Using a tapered blade like the Synergy II will make it play more like a OPS, low-kick and all.
