las vegas roller hockey center?

Recommended Posts

i usually go to the inline cup in vegas, but my team flat out refused to participate again until it went somewhere else because of the surface at this place. it was awful. all the tiles were lower in the middle so the puck would skip while you were stickhandling. it was an awful place to have a tournament of the supposed caliber of the inline cup. anyways, i got the email from usa today saying the rink has undergone another overhaul and that all the problems have been fixed.

can anyone confirm this? i need to know because if it isnt true my team wont go.

I can't comfirm it, but USAInline just sent out an e-mail claiming it to be all new and the best in the country. I would hope they as an organization would not publish info they had not confirmed.

But I too would like to here from someone with a personel eyewitness account.

Now all they need is a builing to put it in...LOL To bad so many big tourneys are in such a dump of a facility, but if the floor is fixed that's a start.

oh i didnt even get started on the rest of the building, or the location for that matter. all parking lots look the same after enough beer, especially the free kind. i cant complain about the fun we had in the parking lot. the first year there was the worst, with all the holes in the walls of the locker rooms, and the toilet backed up and submerged the whole bathroom/"grandstand" area. the locker rooms were definitely better last year, being on the other side - but the whole place was definitely a dump.

Just played there this weekend, and have a game again Thursday night.

Yes, the surface has been replaced, and yes it is a definite improvement over the previous surface. The puck no longer jumps 6" into the air clipping tile corners.

The locker rooms are set up on the far side of the rink (like last year) and they are much better than the original layout.....

As for the reso tof it, what more can you expect? Land/lease prices in Las Vegas are outrageous, so Dan makes do with what he has. The location itself isn't necessarily the best part of town, but that being said, let me remind you again of the $$$ issue for a decent location out here.

Thumbs up to Dan for making the best out of what he has to work with.

thanks for the reply, we'll definitely be going then. as for the other stuff, im sure no one would really mind the facility nearly as much with a proper surface. its the only thing most players really care about. i know it doesnt really matter to me if the floors fixed.

hey Opus, what division you playing in?

I'm actually starting up a tournament and youth development program with Dan (owner of LVRHC) - Hopefully by the time the inline cup comes around we'll have 4 or 5 teams put together....

we are supposed to play in 30 and over - but that division folded last season and we ended up in d 3/4. we lost the championship for d 3, we got a little too tipsy the night before <_< . i can put together a team for d1/2, but we mostly just want to play for fun, and right now are looking like an over 30 team. i also may play the d3/4 on another mixed team just for kicks (its the same weekend as over 30 - thats why we ended up there both last year and probably this year, we cant change flights a week before when the division folds). 5 of the 8 guys we brought last year are piha guys, this year well probably have 2 or three.

i also coach a u14 team here, if you have a big tourney i could try to get them to go....everyone would love vegas and we dont have a trip planned yet.

well i'm probably entering a D1 team, but LVRH as a whole, Dan and I are working on an entire youth development program and I may be coaching the 12U, 10U teams if we get them up and running in time. I'll keep you in the loop.
