ovechkin_18 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 i am currently in a roller hockey league and looking to buy a new stick...but undecided about which flex is optimal. i want a flex what would be most responsive with slap shots...i dont have a big shot cuz i dont lean a lot into my shot ( i am 5'10 and 175 lbs) i've been using 85 flex and its not too bad...and was wondering i went to a 75 flex...would it give a more powerful shotcheers
top-shelf 1 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 Its personal preference. I've used numerous sticks, both carbon fiber and wood, and I've found that a hybrid suits me best. I get a great slapshot from it, and, guess what? Its a 50 flex junior Easton Z-Carbon. I'm about 140 lbs, and I have only snapped one shaft out of the 10-15 sticks I've purchased. The blades on the sticks aren't terribly durable, but they have a feel that can't be touched by anything else on the market.Enough of my sales-job :). Really, the stiffer the stick, the harder your shot can be. If you have the strength to load the shaft with enough torque, then you can really rip it if you have the right strength to stiffness ratio. Think of it like a compound bow. Hope this helps.
