trajik78 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2007 me and along with a few other guys from work have been going out to Juniper park in Queens, NY and are looking for anyone else who wants to come out and play. trying to get a semi-regular routine going, like Thursdays and Sundays or something like that.we had been playing over in Farmers oval park (don't know the real name) but they've closed it to completely redo the rink. it should be up by the fall and im sure it will be nice. concrete base instead of harsh asphalt. i've been trying to get out there as much as possible and theres usually enough people coming and going to get a 2-2 or a 3-3. so if interested shoot me a IM on AIM - trajik78

nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 Pete is DG still like street pavement? That was murder on my wheels when I ref'ed the tournament they have and also when I played in the Police Commssioners League for Richie's Pct's team using my brothers Police ID lol. How about that other rink the one in the back that you told Richie and I about, i think it was College Point's, is that one still all locked up like Fort Knox? trajik78 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 Whitestone is a bit of a trek for me since i dont have a car during the week, the rink at Juniper Park i can get to from the M train which i live off of. i really cant wait for the rink at Farmers Circle to get finished, i miss the concrete. asphalt is bad for the wheels as well as the elbows. :D
nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 I'm going to be making some calls this week before I leave to go on Vacation to see what's going on with the rink at Farmers Oval. Once it gets finished it's going to be used pretty much 5-6 days a week by the league and stuff.

I just get wheels cheap in bulk and throw em away after 4-5 skates. The other rink is College Point, and still locked up. I think there's a group that goes down there, don't know what nights though. I'm not even sure if they're still running their youth leagues. would be a real shame.
nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 Yeah that would be messed up, I emailed the President of their league who I coached with when we combined the guys from the 104 and College Point in a tournament over at Chelsea Piers. I never heard back from him. I'm going to go over to DG and College Point this week to put up flyers for our Mens League and Kids Program. Maybe we can attract some interest. DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 I've been talking it up a bit as well, seems there's some interest from the guys that play at DG. I know a couple of guys from the thrashers might be joining up as well. Give me a ring the night you're going to DG, maybe we can get a game going.

nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 How can you play at Juniper at night without lights?I spoke to the Park Director for Farmers Oval today, looks like the rink will be done mid-end of September or so he hopes. So I'm moving the start date for my league until October 1st.
