retaining some flex in a cut down stick

just bought an Easton SL and even after taking out the end plug, i still need to cut down about 3" to make it my preferred length and I know this will add quite a bit of flex (its an 85 flex).. anyways, I was wondering if I were to cut it down perhaps another 3" (total of 6") and then put the end plug back in.. will that let it retain some of the flex or does it not make a difference?

Oggie Grips are about 6" and will make the stick flexier than its original 85 flex.

for today i'll just be cutting it down to my size and just cut more when i can get my hands on the oggie grip.. never seen it in lhs' here in california so i gotta order online <_<
