How It's Made

Recommended Posts

Just saw the Goalie Mask episode on How It's Made. They were at Eddy Mask Co. making a batch of the Molson masks quite often seen on eBay. Quite the process. I figured most of it would have been machine manufactured. I'll be sure to take a lot better care of my bucket from now on knowing the extent of the labor and such put into these. Even with a plain color mask.

well, its a quality thing. being in an industry where hand made is better made, I feel that a more in depth job is done when layed up by hand, plus it makes more jobs also, and who likes unemployment?

Machines are made to produce a helmet fast, so if the helmet is rushed the quality is lessened, so I think a mask made buy hand is much better than a machine made mask. Anyways the hand made masks are usually the higher quality masks anyways. They leave the machines to do the crappy 1200 type masks.

I would chose my Richochet ve over an Itech envy7 anyday!

But this is my opinion!

i've looked for the video on youtube. not there.

Vision, your both right and wrong. Yes, machines can make a consistent product, day in day out, but they are also not able to compensate for small problems, like say, a crap run of material, they can't tell if the resin is right etc....

I saw it on Discovery Ch. Might have been one of the first airings? Give it time, I'm sure it'll pop up.

You might want to contact Tony Priolo and ask him how your mask was made.
