Deciding between phones

Recommended Posts

I have to switch to alltel because of where I am going to school. I currently have us cellular and they are pretty decent. I need a new phone though, I have had bad experience with Motorola, but pretty decent with Lg. I narrowed the phones down to the LG 8600 and the samsung wafer. I have no clue which one I'm going to go with. I am starting to lean towards the LG because it seems the wafer has had poor reviews because of a bad service drop and an echo. But I also heard the LG echos with altell sometimes too. I am wondering if anyone has one of these and can give a real review. Im wondering if this echo problem is fixed for the phones, and if all the probelms are fixed with the wafer. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

ps- I tried searching for reviews on these phones on here but could only find other phones such as the rzr, and I def don't want that. I found other reviews on the net, but theres not a single good one, everyone just compalins about the problems.

I have the Samsung SCH-U520 and it is amazing. It was $50 when I got it, but I saw they had it down to $20 when I was at the local Alltel store, and I'd consider that a steal. You may want to look into that.

I dont really care about price that much. You haven't had any problems with an echo or any other difficulties? How is everything else on the phone, I heard it drops calls when it even has full bars. How is the ringer volume, vibrate, charging, battery length, and can you put ringtones on this for text msg's as well? Any more input would be greatly appreciated.

No I haven't had any problems with it at all. It has better reception than any other phone I've messed around with (including my friends'), and the ringer volume and sound quality are unmatched. I put mp3 ringtones on mine and they don't sound muffled at all like they do on some other phones. Also, if you get a microSD card, you can use it as an mp3 player with headphones or just play the songs through the phone's speaker. The sound quality is so clear with it, and it is twice as loud when on full as my brother's RAZR.

As for battery, I've gone from completely delpeted battery to 3/4 charge in about 20 minutes with it as well, so it charges very quickly. I get about 4-5 days out of a full battery charge, but I plug it in every other night so it doesn't wear out completely, and I've never had it die on me.

You can use different ringers for calls, texts, voicemails, whatever. Everything can have its own ringtone. The only thing with ringers is to put custom ones on, you need a USB cable for it. The Bluetooth connection is disabled on this phone for anything except wireless headsets. But my cable was only like $8 on eBay, and you can put ringers, pics, videos, whatever you want on it through that.

I definitely would recommend this phone.
