thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2007 How heavy/light is the Itech 7 Concept II full face shield compared to a regular cage? http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=I7Other than the option to replace the shield if it were to get scratched, would I be sacraficing anything if I decided to purchase this over a shield/cage combo like the FX50??????I just need something to see clearly while I play. I'm required to wear a cage but I have poor vision, can't wear contacts, while I play and the cage bars mess with my eyes.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2007 If it's anything like the OG Itech from back in the 80s and my squirt days...then it's pretty dang light. Probably lighter than an FM480.
icedevil82 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2007 I wore a concept II for a brief period of time. The weight difference isn't really noticeable, at least it wasn't for me. I can't remember if it was lighter or heavier. But, the concept II will fog a little easier because it comes down further on your face than the shield on the FX-50 and there is less airflow getting to the inside of the Concept II shield. Also, the lens on the FX-50 is optically correct meaning that there is no distortion of what you're seeing. And, the lower amount of airflow you get with the Concept II will also mean you'll feel hotter.
Smitty34 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2007 I've been wearing the Itech 7 Concept II shield for three years. I have never noticed a difference in weight before between the shield and my old cage. The only downside that I've expereinced with it is that it tends to get warm inside, which speaks for the air flow. That isn't a big negative for me because I don't really notice that kind of stuff until I get back to the bench. I've only had one instince where it fogged up on me, and that was only a little bit towards the bottom of the shield, so it didn't really cause a problem. Other than that, there haven't been any other times when it fogged up. Also, I've taken several pucks and sticks to the fave with this full face shield, and scratches have never been a problem either. The vision is very good, and as I mentioned, I haven't noticed a weight difference, so those are good things. I would recomend this to you.
tlminh 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 I had the itech full face shield for a while, only problem was when I sweat, I would sometimes drip onto the shield and get in the way. I switched to a mask and haven't looked back
