flyguy1697 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2007 So the last year I thought I've been playing with a groin pull but this weekend it got extremely bad. I finally go to the doctors and after 2 X-Rays and one MRI they diagnosed me with a pelvic fracture. My uncle who has played major hockey said that a lot of NHL players commonly get this injury due to the kind of skates that they wear. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this or has any further reading on this. If you guys can help me out with this that would be great. Thanks in advance. troy 12 Report post Posted August 31, 2007 I had a pelvic avulsion fracture, which seems what you might have given you describing it as a similar feeling to a groin pull. It occurs when your abductors I believe are too tight and when stretched too far actually rip off a piece of bone where they attach on your pelvis. So this injury is caused by lack of stretching and not skates.
flyguy1697 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2007 Mine is not the same thing. I don't know how it occurs but the doctor said it is from the way I skate and the style of play that I have. I am just curious about the skates because I have heard from a few people that this could be the problem...JR have you heard anything about this?
