Hockeyman9621 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2007 Don't overload on liquids to the point where you feel bloated. But yes, eating right the night before and hydrating are important. Don't worry about all this too much though otherwise it sticks in your mind throughout the tryout(for example, don't say to yourself, "if I prepared better maybe I would be playing better"). Just play, because once you're on the ice nothing else matters but making the team. Good luck.
chk hrd 164 Report post Posted September 14, 2007 have a hi carb dinner the night before. do the majority of your hydrating the day before by drinking all day. have a good meal a few hours before you go on the ice. Drink juice or even a sports drink with breakfast. Don't drown yourself with water beforehand, you'll just be bloated and sluggish. Before you get on the ice have a handful of jelly beans, gummi bears or other simlar snack (no candy bars). The will help keep your energy and glucose levels up. Stay away from ANY energy drinks. You will get the inital sugar/caffine rush but then crash hard in the middle of your skate, plus anything with caffenine will dehydrate you.good luck
biff44 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2007 Drink a lot of water the night before and when you first wake up. Have a usual breakfast for a game day. Varies from player to player, but I would have some protein, fat, complex carbs early in the morning so I will have some fuel in the tank during the day. Easy to digest carb snacks during the tryout with gatoraide.
