Bauer HH4000 'Surgery' Question

Recommended Posts

I have a Red Bauer 4000 bucket, and it has Black Earloops, and the little leather wrap on the front screws. My question is how easy is it, or even possible to change the front piece to a white one? I really haven't looked at how extensive it's attached, but I know some of the older ones the screws are free and able to remove, but the new ones are Set into the helmet. Just thought I'd post it on here first before I get into it.

The helmets that have the leather piece on the front do not have the hardware set into the plastic like the newer ones do. The female part of the screw is glued to the leather or it is riveted in. If you can't pop the glue off you can easliy drill it out. Just don't make the hole any bigger so you won't have trouble putting new hardware in.

I finally got around to looking into what could and could not be done. I have the Red one like I said, with the black front piece, but that is riveted in place, and highly impossible to remove. I also have an older Cooper 3000 with White front, but that piece is just held in with nuts/screws. So I thought I'd try taking the white off of the Cooper, and just Overlaying it over the black piece. But that didn't work cuz the holes aren't aligned equally. I'm pretty much giving up on this idea. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case someone knew something I didn't. I'll just have to keep my eye out on ebay and the sell list for a Red 4000 Med with White accents (loops and front piece)

The riveted part is VERY easily drilled out. And may I ask why it is so important that you make this minor alteration? Is it really important enough to you to have to buy a new bucket? Just wondering...

it's not life or death important, but our beer league team got Red Wings colors this season, and just looking to get one of my helmets to match better than what it does. I can live with the accents being black, but it was just a curiosity if anyone's done it before. I'm not too keen on taking a drill to it, so I'll just leave it as is, and just keep a watchful eye on ebay for a good bargain.
