Wicked 5's

Recommended Posts

Im new to these forums, only joined a few days ago, so much useful information floating around here.

Anyway back to the point of this. I have been looking at the Wicked 5's for a bit and I really like what I see with them. Im wondering what other peoples experiances with them are and also how they would compare in stiffness and break in to Mission D3c's. Chance I might get Assasins not likely though.

Also, I am currently wearing '06 helium 500's I really dont like them as the boots is too soft (I am a goalie as well and it really stings taking a slapper to the inide of my foot where the boot is softest). With my 500's they are a size 7 but when I lift the red insole up there is a 9 written, does this mean anything in particualr or is it just so they knew that went there while it was being put togeathre sought of thing.

One last thing, According to the fading mark on the inside of the boot the 500's they are a size 7E, im wondering how much of a differance a D width would be as most of what i have seen in my size are D's not E's

Thankyou in advance

edited to add a few other things I remembered

i love my wicked 5's. im 6'2" and 205 and they're stiff enough that they don't bend at pressure points on me and offer great support. i've experienced no break in time and have not had as much as a blister since day one.

if your a E i would stick with EE width in Mission (speaking for at least the Wicked line) as my 13EE fit snug, but offer enough room that my feet aren't crushed.

if your a goalie why arent you going for a goalie boot? normal boots won't let you bend and maneuver as well.

well at my LHS normal hockey skates are a rip off let alone goalie skates as they are more specialised, I suppose because less people buy them I assume that that's why they cost even more. At some stage I do want to get some though, at the level I play at hardly any of the goalies have goalie skates. Anyway my budget can only cater for 1 pair of skates at the moment :(

I have been trying on some CCM bandits and it reminded me about something else, if you have had any other missions, what is the hieght if the boot on the 5's like from the toe to about the 3rd or 4th eyelet, is it any higher than on the '06 line or others?

EDIT: also can the wicked 5's be baked, if so did you get them baked, I'm not really into the idea of it, but im wondering what they are like without it I remeber when i got my D3's I didnt get them baked, they hurt enough for me to not be able to train for more than 30 mins, but once that stage was over they were great.

they can be baked. i haven't needed to do it, im comfortable in them enough.

as for the height of the boot, it seems an eyelet taller than the Syndicate line they have out now.

I didnt mean how far up they go in that way, I mean the inside of the mid-toe area, how far is the top of the inside from the bottom of the in side of the boot where your foot is, I'm sorry if its hard to under stand, I will try to make up a little diagram (it will be prtty bad) and post that so it will be easier to understand.

<_< is there anyway to post a picture without an internet link?

oh right...heh. well my toes definitely have some up/down wiggle room, nothing that ever bugs me or makes the boot feel unstable, but it's there. can't really put it into a measurement, but im able to freely move them up and down, with my foot still being very secure and snug.

if that bugs you, baking might help relax the material directly behind the toe cap.

Thats useful to know, a little bit is always good. With the CCM Externo Bandits that I tried, I honestly tied them as tightly as I could along the tow with extra insoles and a very thick pair of socks and i still would have liked it a bit tighter :S

As long as on the 5's it isnt enough to get in the way of skating as one of my favorite things about hockey is skating hard (and in my opinion i do skate fairly hard as on my D3's i bent the frame just enough to stop the wheels spinning correctly) and stoppin hard with a good ol' power slide :D

Haha, that brings me to another point about the 5's that I just remembered, the wheels, whats the durometer on the wheels that they come with, im used to skating on the soft stuff (at the moment 76 hornets on front and labeda grippers lights on the back dunno with duro for them) and while im a very light player (dunno my weight in pounds sorry) I can still destroy soft wheels and I have never tried anythign harder than the hornets apart from hyper pro150s which are out door wheels and provide negative grip (yeah negative, not just no grip, I reakon I slide futher than yould normally be possible on these).

Oh and Thankyou so much for all the help so far trajik

they come with RR Hornet 76a durometer wheels setup as so - 76-76-80-80. i blew out one of them while playing on asphalt, but as you know they're not really ment for that. they've been holding up pretty well on the outdoor surface i've been playing on recently which is much smoother. they seem to be holding up pretty well and i havent had to rotate them yet...well only the front wheels.

Well I finally got around to my LHS and they didnt have any of the wicked's in my size, and they guy there seemed to think that Reeboks best fitted the shape of my foot, I tried on a pair of 6k's, and they where quite comfortable, I am going to create another thread/topic (whatever they are called here) with a few questions about them now :)

if they have them close to your size you can gauge what your proper size is from there and order online, they're going for like $200 these days. but if your happy with some RBK's - go for it.
