Recycling services

I'm used to sorting paper, bottles, cans, plastic into the blue bins here in Vancouver -- and I assumed most North American cities did too. But having thought of my work to New York and much of the U.S. East Coast a few years ago, I found that it was totally non-existent. It's kind of sad when a big cosmo city like New York doesn't have recycling.

Is this common in some of the U.S.?

NYC does have a Recycling Program. I can't speak for any other cities.
