New to the site...Opinions on Skates

Recommended Posts

Hey, first off I'd like to say that this is a wicked site and I definitely just killed at least 4-5 hours reading topics here when I should be studying for my finals  Oh well its great information here.

Anyways I'm looking to order some new skates by mid next week (from either hockeygiant or hockeymonkey) and I'm wondering if anyone knew the main differences between the nike bauer supreme 50 ($130 usd) and the supreme 70 ($240 usd) ... I play a few times a week and its just a juvenile league so nothing overly competitive. Oh I also looked at the one 90's (about $330 usd) but I think that may be a bit overkill for my purpose

Thanks for your input, and if anyone has any other recommendations let me know! :)

You should've read a little more. Use the search. This topic has been discussed before. I am telling you more than generously before someone thrashes you. You get what you pay for and as far as the Supreme line it seems a number of people have been complaining about durability. Did you think about the Vapor line. Try them on first as well, buy what fits best...

Go to your local hockey store (LHS) and try the skates on. The Supreme 70 and One90 are great skates if they fit your foot, but if they don't, you should get something else. Buying without trying them on is a bad idea.

BTW, do you wear a junior size? I believe those prices that you listed are for the junior skates.

Nice, thanks.

I definitely tried to use the search. My query was "+nike +bauer +supreme +50 +skates" and there was 4 pages of results with none actually on those particular skates. I already know about the 90's since a lot of ppl are talking about those, but there isn't much discussion on the 50's or even the 70's for that matter.

I'm mainly looking for opinions on whether the ~$100 increases from 50->70->90 is worth it and if people have any experiences with these skates. And also if people could point me towards compatible skates from other manufactures

No those are the prices of the senior sizes from hockeymonkey.com ...

Try searching "supreme 70" (which will force the search engine to only return articles that contain *both* "supreme" and "70." That seemed to yield a good 4+ topics about Supreme 70 skates.
