How long have you had the skates? If it still under the warranty period, 90 days I believe, you can call NBH and they'll take care of you. Your best bet would be to go to your LHS and see what they can do.

I work at the LHS. It was for a customer who has had the pair for about a yr.We don't normally repair this kind of problem, so there was nothing I could do personally in the shop, but we work with a shoe repair guy in NYC who has done a lot of skate work through the years. We sent the customer over to him. There's enough leather there so he might be able to stitch it back on. It won't be perfect but it will provide some kind of protection. His kid has a game Fri and Sat so they wanted something to be there to protect him.

I've seen this happen before and I figure if there is a good way to solve the problem this would be the place to find out.

If you don't have the ability to fix it at your shop you did the right thing by sending him to a shoe repair shop. They surely have a machine capable of heavy stitching. Get to know the repair guy well and continue to send people to him. It'll make him extra $$ and make your customers feel like they are being taken care of by their LHS. Win-Win for everyone.
