yeah i use that all the time...

but make sure you declare everything once you get to the border

you will not be able to "sneak" it over, the border people know you only go into point roberts to either pick stuff up, go buy beer, golf or go boating... so, just a small warning

In other words, you'll avoid brokerage fees, but not duty.

you will pay the duty...

also, if you try and sneak it over and they catch you, they will make you pay a penalty

(i applied to be a customs worker and went through all the tests)

You'll also avoid the heavily inflated shipping fees to Canada. I'm actually dropping by TSB for the first time today to pick up a stick. From what I've heard from friends who also use this service, TSB offers great service.

I had my Warrior prostock shafts/blades order shipped to TSB without any problems. I've had nothing but good experiences with them so far.

From the locals who order and pickup from TBS, what sites/companies do you buy from and do you use your credit cards or other forms of payment? I'm asking because some companies do not ship to non-credit card addresses.

Also, is "duties" the tax(5%gst/7%pst) or is that duty% on top of the tax?

I'm guessing since you pay for the cheaper US shipping price, it sorta offsets the duties or taxes?

I've ordered from HockeyMonkey/Hockey Giant/Inline Warehouse and the only time I can recall there being an issue was with Hockey Monkey where they called me to confirm my shipping address as it was different than my home billing address. With HG and Inline Warehouse I paid using PayPal so it wasn't an issue.

if they require that you have the same shipping/billing adress, you can just call your cc company and add a seconday adress, my bank let me do it for free my old visa tried to charge me so i cancelled the card

What do guys usually end up paying in duties and stuff for the equipment you order?

I went for the first time yesterday to pick up a hockey shaft. Customs just waved me through when I returned to Canadian soil.

I was talking to this guy at my LHS. He would buy sticks, tape them up and mark the blades with puck marks. Then he would send them to his son who was playing Junior B in Canada. Giving the appearance that the stick was used and had a lower value. Maybe it'll work for somebody here.

Hey, i just heard about TSB and have a few questions.

I'm looking to order 1 dolomite shaft and 2 blades from icewarehouse, and was wondering how exactly the process works? Do I simply sign up with TSB,fill out their address when ordering and go pick it up when it comes? Also, how much would the fees be when I come back to Canada?

You don't need to sign up with TSB. All you do is ship to your name to TSB's address and they will hold the package for you. The longer TSB holds it the more you pay. Its not much like a couple of dollars/day or something. Check the site for details. Also you can send them an email and let them know that you shipped them something. They will email you when it arrives.

Fee's to Canada depend on how much you spent and where the products are made. They will charge you tax + duty usually but sometimes you'll get back without paying anything.

Make sure the package you're receiving has a tracking number so you know when it arrives. TSB says they'll email you when it comes in but it's a courtesy, not a guarantee. I didn't have a tracking number on my package so I didn't find out my package had arrived until 10 days later because I was depending solely on TSB's email.
