Rbk 5k forsaken vs Mission Soldier...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm in need of a new skate around the $200 mark and I have a wide foot. I wear a size 10.5 shoe, I know a 10E in Mission would fit me but I'm not sure about Rbk. I'm particularly looking for a skate that is comfortable, I've broken a heel and torn an ankle ligament. I'm hoping for a skate that won't very long to break in.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks Again Guys,

Edit: I ordered the rbk 9.5E but apparently, nobody has it in yet. So I took a shot at the Soldier in 10E. We'll see how it goes...

I have a pair of Rbk 5Ks and have tried on the Mission Soldier. I thought the Soldiers were way more comfortable but the heel was slightly too wide for my foot. I bought an 8D for my 5K and they are alittle too narrow (E width wasn't available at that time). Don't think that either boot will take long to break in as they are not super stiff.

I went with the Rbks because I like the Tri D and wanted to stick to them.

Interesting. Now I'm hoping the Mission in 10-E won't be overly wide on me... Lol. The thing is that my current 10-D's fit ok, until they've been on my foot more than 60 minutes, at which point, they hurt the holy hell out of my forefoot and ankle due to excessive tightness.

I'm just thinking outloud here, but what's a good way to make a skate slightly less wide? I'm thinking along the lines of like Dr. Scholl's inserts or something. If a D isn't wide enough but an E is too wide, that's the exact problem for an idiot like me.

I'm in the same boat of D being a hair too narrow, E being too wide. I always go with D width, as the boot will stretch wider, but never get narrower. A good LHS can stretch and punch boots to help, as well as a good shoe repair shop

I win the biggest retard of the year award. The current pair I have are 10-E

s (I couldn't see it on the inside of the boot because the E in the 10-E has nearly been rubbed off), but I'm okay with that. My D3C's have taken a bit of wear and tear anyway. I'm going to enjoy reviewing the Soldier's against them.

if they both fit the Soldier is the better skate hands down. The chassis, bearings and overall construction of the boot are superior in the Mission. RBK seems to save anything good for their top models only.

I got the Soldier's in a coupla days ago and am very pleased, although haven't played a game in them yet. The break in isn't very bad at all. They are completely different than the D3C's, there is no stiff area in the ankle, I'm told this was their plan and that the skate is supposed to fit snug around the whole feet evenly.

I've now played a coupla games in them and finally gotten used to the new wheels. These skates are good stuff. I just skate baked them at home (yes, I took the wheels off) and will know if this helps the fit any within a few days... I think Mission is offering some awesome buys this year. I'll probably grab a pair of Assassins next yr when they drop to $250 or $300.

Are they pretty stiff?

The Soldier's are unusual as far as stiffness go. The old Mission D line feels stiffer, the Soldier/Syndicate line supposedly wraps around the whole foot. I personally like the change, but only time will tell how long they last. I'm guessing around a year.

anybody have experience comparing the soldiers and assassins. trying to decide if it is worth the extra $100.

i got code 1s for $246 but the heel is just too wide and my foot is sliding out so they will be going back. any help would be appreciated.

The Assassins are a little stiffer and have the indy foam looking inserts in the ankles on the inner portion of the boot. I'm personally not a big fan of the Hyper wheels, but they do feel like a solid wheel just not the best choice for me.

I've heard good things about the Hyper wheels also. I trust it will be a superb skate for you.

thankfully I got the Assassins for going to the park, skating rink, outside with the kiddo, etc so the wheels are less of an issue. The Assassin is very solid, and I can only hope that wear and tear makes the plaid fade some. If I have any complaint, it's the damned plaid.
