Quick skate sizing question

Recommended Posts

Im looking into ordering some skates and im leaning towards bauer but i cant decide on which size to order and im not able to try them on a a LHS. I wear a size UK 11 shoe which is equivalent to a US 12 and ive been looking at some of the online skate sizing charts and some are telling me i need a bauer 10.5 and some say an 11. Can anyone give me some help or advise me on sizing?

Thanks

I have the Vapor XXV's currently in an 8.0. I usually wear a 9.5 and rarely a 10.0 in most shoes. It seems that for Bauer's sizing down 1.5 sizes is usually a good bet. Have you ever worn Bauer skates before to know the general fit of the various skates? Not trying on a skate in whatever line you are looking at purchasing is very risky.

My Vapor XXV's are 9.5. The box says shoe size 11. I'm usually a 10.5 shoe.

My toes feather the toe cap when I'm standing up. My foot is 11.25 inches long.

So I guess when it comes down to it you have a few options. Try a Bauer skate on in a pro shop at a rink, find a LHS somewhere reasonably close, or order two pairs and return the one that doesn't fit so that you don't have to wait to order another pair if the one your order doesn't fit, plus if you return something you will pay shipping to your house, back to the warehouse, then to your house again for the new skates. If you order two pairs at once you will just pay for it to your house and back for the wrong size.

I hate those charts. I used them when I got my 8000's and it put my in a skate 1/2 size too big and a EE width. I can fit into a 12.5 for a tight running shoe and wear an 11 skate D with my toes just off the end. (the running shoe is nike) But I have a lot of casual shoes that are 13's. So you could go 2- 1 1/2 sizes down from your shoe in my opinion. Just remember when you first get your skates that they will feel smaller on your feet before you lace them up, so don't worry if your toes hits the end before you lace em up.

I haven't had much experience with bauer, im wearing size 12 missions at the moment which seem to fit me fine. So i take it going the 1.5 size down is probably the safest bet which means i should go for a bauer 10.5? Also i definitley can't try some on at a LHS as im from the UK and there are no places anywhere near me.
