What can I do?

Recommended Posts

I'm currently in a pair of Wicked 1's and this is going to sound weird because I have stated that I think these are the best skates ever made but I'm quickly finding out I am so wrong. I got these skates a few months back and they actually fit perfect before I broke them in. After skating them til currently, now that they are pretty much broken in, it seems as if my foot actually sinks too low in the boot. This is causing the ankle pad to really dig and pound into my ankle bone and bruise it to the point I can't skate for days at a time. I have no idea what to think or do as it's only affecting my right foot. It just seems as if after I broke the right boot in it got way too deep for my foot.

The only skate to really fit perfectly with no issues is the Vapor XX and trying to find a 9D in those is nearly impossible now. I guess the question I'm trying to ask is what a good skate would be that fit comparable to the Vapor XX boot?

I have a fairly flat foot, narrow heel, average to little wider forefoot.

I'm just trying to find something on here or somewhere as I have a lot of hockey coming up and I need a skate I can play in that doesn't hurt to the point where I can barely stand and walk after I take them off.

If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated. I'd be willing to trade these off and or sell these if someone wanted to take them off my hands.

Thanks for the help in advance and sorry for such the long post.

Two of my friends had problems in the ankle area with their Wicked 1s. And both of them sent their skates back to Mission and in return they got this years new Model, the Syndicate Boss. According to them it's a much better skate and it's more comfortable. I tried them on and felt the same way but they are too pricey for me. I ended up getting the Assassin skates instead. But I rather convert an ice hockey boot to roller which I'm still going to do once I decide which ice skate to go with.

Have you taken a look at this years(2008) Mission roller hockey skates?

Hope this helps

You might want to try these...

I don't think I'm having the exact issue you are (not heel slippage yet), but I think the pain is similar. I've had my Wicked 3's for about 3 months and I've probably skated 15-20 hours, but I'm still getting pain and blisters in the same places on my ankles that I heard everyone complaining about before I bought them. It's clear that they did not put nearly enough padding inside these boots and I can actually feel the inner sleeve (if that's what it is) through the padding. Anytime I lean on the inside of the boot I get excruciating pain in my ankles to the point that I can't turn. I don't know if that is ever going to break in...I don't know if it can.

In trying to come up with a way to decrease the pain I figured that I needed to increase the padding in the ankles, but thicker socks weren't the answer and I didn't want to stick something down the boot that I would have to worry about sliding around. I used to wear this type of neoprene ankle supports playing softball and they seemed to help the first time out. I'm hoping that at some point the skates might actually break in and I'll be able to skate without the supports because I'd rather have a pair that actually fit correctly, but this is the best solution I have for now.

They might be worth a try for you and they were only $10 each at Sports Authority.

I had the wicked 1's also and after 10 grueling months, I had to hang them up. The pain was too much and it was affecting my play. Not to mention the 2 new growths I have on my foot because of them. I went back to my old purefly boot and threw a sprung chassis on there, awesome setup. I hate throwing money away like that and like many people said, mission definitely dropped the ball on that one. It was a great skate performance wise when they didn't hurt though.
