Mission BSX Outdoor Hockey Wheels

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience with the Mission BSX Outdoor Hockey Wheels. Pro's cons, the price is great so I'm wondering if anyone that has used them have any issues with these.

Regards,

Nelson

It is basically a Pro 150 Hyper Wheel...Nice basic wheel that should hold up.

I take it then that the CSX is basically a Hyper 250?

I’m a Noob to Inline Hockey. After reviewing many different skates I choose the Mission Ac7 skate. I read in a review that the boot was the same as the Mission Ac6 – Ac5 ABEC 5 Bearings I choose the AC 7 because of the wheels. They are inexpensive but the way Mission goes on about them I though why not try them. I have read mostly good about them. However, I have heard that the wheels can separate and fall apart. Since I read more good than bad about the wheels I decided to see for myself. I will post more after I receive the skates and try them out.

I actually had a pair of skates, AC5's, come back the other day (I work at a hockey store). The core of one of the wheel completely came out, wheel in one piece. Another wheel broke into 3 pieces and the core was stuck to one of the pieces. I've never seen anything like it. Guy wasn't hockey stopping, playing indoors actually and he wasn't big either. Weird for sure. If you're playing outdoors you'll never go wrong with Labeda Gripper Asphalts.

I’m not sure this makes any difference… but the AC5 uses a 76A hardness wheel that Mission calls an Indoor wheel, The AC6 uses a 78A Indoor/Outdoor and lastly the AC7 uses a 82A Outside wheel. The only “Good” reviews I read where for the BSX Outdoor wheel. Anyway wheel Warranty is against Manufacture Defects only for the Mission wheels.

Well my new Mission AC7 skates arrived today. Although they have a steel frame and use ABEC 5 bearings and I guess weigh more than a high end skate. They are definitely a good “Fit” for my skill level. As far as my BSX wheel review goes. My first impression is very good. The wheels look great! I was going to just order a set of Lebada Addictions but have decided to give these BSX wheels a chance.

Well last night I got to try out my new skates and BSX wheels. The reviews I have read seemed very accurate. I was skating indoor on sports tile. They started out with, in my opinion, too much grip. After about 15 minutes they seemed to be about the correct grip. I had no problem with grip for starting or turning. So after one skate I give these wheels a very good review. However, the reviews I have read said that the wheels where great for the first couple of games. Than after they wear down some they lose grip.

Well today I tried the BSX wheel out on smooth cement (not polished). As you probably can guess the grip was great. The wheels got scuffed up a little bit but no noticeable wear. Now tomorrow it's back to sports tile. It's still to early to tell for sure but so far no signs of the rumored Urethane wheel separating from the hub.

Well I ran the wheels on sport court again. They had plenty of grip. BTW I am 50 years old so i'm not the most aggressive skater in the world but for 5 bucks a wheel I think that these wheels seem "OK" to me.

I have used these wheels a couple more times on Sports Tile. I have plenty of grip and I would think that they are "Worn In" by now.

  • Smaller core design allows the outer urethane to flex maximizing grip. is what Mission Hi Lo has to say about these wheels. I'm hoping that someone with some more experience will at least try these wheels out. Anyway from my Noob point of view of these wheels are very good. I think that Mission made a huge mistake calling them a Outdoor wheel though. I think they should call it a 200 pound + wheel. Other than the name I have no bad issues with the wheels. I personally think they are great.
