seaner7633 2 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 Scoring For SmilesHey guys,I am raising money for the organization, Operation Smile, who provide surgery and after-care to impoverished children born with facial deformities. To raise money, I am treating an upcoming hockey tournament April 18-20 in Charleston, SC, like a walk-a-thon, where people can pledge money per point I score, or make a one-time donation. The Scoring For Smiles program is something I came up with, to raise money for Operation Smile. I had the idea several months ago and started searching around for organizations that specifically helped with this sort of thing. Having dealt with it myself, it is a cause that means a lot to me. I found several good organizations, but Operation Smile seemed to be the best, plus I have friends who’ve done volunteer work with them. I contacted them with my idea, and they replied quickly and enthusiastically.Being a professional designer, I took the time to put together a nice looking flyer and webpage to communicate my program, and give details about Operation Smile. They supplied me with their logo, and permission to use their look and style. The approved both the flyer and webpage before I went live with them. To avoid confusion, the link above goes to the page I made, on my site. Operation Smile’s official site is www.operationsmile.org.I have had a great response from family and friends, and am really close to meeting my goal of raising $3,000, which would be enough to help 12 kids. Actually, $3,120 would make it 13 kids. Anyways, I’ve exhausted all my contacts, and thought I’d see if I could get over the top by taking this to the few online forums I visit. I certainly am not trying to break any rules, so if this post is in violation, please delete it and accept my apologies.PM me with any questions, although I think the webpage covers just about everything. I hope you take the time to check it out.Thanks!-Sean
