I had a bump on my shin for 2 years after taking a shot. That said I would defintly go see a doctor, You should not be just going on experiences of others, the head is nothing to mess with.

same deal here. i took a shot just above my ankle in about January and theres still a noticeable, hard lump where the puck hit me

you're alot braver than I am. Stick & puck is the most dangerous time to be on the ice. People with no control firing pucks every which way. Hopefully it knocked some sense into you and you'll wear a helmet.
