which wheel should it be?

Recommended Posts

hey guys hows it going?

here's my predicament...

im about 5' 9" 140lb (..yes yes im a beast)

and im looking to find a wheel to put into my sprung A6 holders, which will give me grip and speed..only thing i have to make up for the size ;)

so i have looked at rollerhockeymonkey.com and i have been paying attention to these

Rink rat white lite

or

Revision Variant Platnium

i do not know what to go with between theses two, or if anyone else has any other suggestions in other brands it would be appreciated. Also, using the sprungs would i need to stick with 74a or could i move to a slightly harder wheel (76a) and still maintain the same grip?

thanks for reading and any help will be appreciated!

i agree its an outdoor surface but its also a roll on surface.. so i cant imagine using those indoors..

As for the revisions. I've used every wheel ever since the first tournament series wheels. And every new model even when they switch the color on the wheels and update the years model, i feel a difference. Every new model there is more and more grip on them and the turns seem tighter. I would definently try the varients if I were you.

im 200lb's and i used the variant platinum and gold wheels on my hummers the same set up you are looking at and the grip was perfect nor did i lose any speed.

i have all bronze's for my a6 sprungs but havent really gotten to test them out waiting for a better boot this summer

+1 for Variants. IMO the best wheel on the market.

Currently i'm on the first model of the sprungs on RBK 8k Ice skates. Love the setup. I'm 6ft, 170 and using all gold on a sportcourt surface, and still going very strong.

nice nickyb13 let me know how that setup works... im mounting my a6's on vapourXXX

hmm so what do you guys think, go with the platinums on the outside and gold in the middle?(will i still get grip?) or all platinum(will i still get speed)? or all gold?

It really depends on the surface that you're using. At my rink, we have an pretty grippy floor that we clean with wood floor finish cleaner. There's really no need for Platinums for myself with that setup at the rink.

It also depends on what type of player you are as well. I'd much rather have higher top speed with a harder wheel then be able to stop on a dime as well as a xtra soft wheel.

That's basically all personal preference.

im 205lbs and use RR Hornets 78 durometer for the front 2 and 80 durometer for the back 2. i play on smooth concrete outdoor. havent had them blow out on me yet and they provide great grip.

though i did have 1 of the stock 76 durometer RR's that came on my Wicked 5's blow out on asphalt...but i cant fault the wheel. its an indoor wheel and im far to fat for it.

www.hockeyx.com has a good selection of '07 Revision Variants for $5. That should more than sway your decision.

They are far and away the best wheel(s) on the market. RR makes very good products, but the Variant is a step above.

i currently have hornets. i had labeda fuzions and they lost grip in a month adn i have been on the hornet for about 3-4 months and they are great. i think next wheels im gunna try the revisions so... yea good reviews on the revision and the hornet are always a solid choice.
