Recommended Posts

yea you can... goalie buddy of mine did his own conversion. Basically just bought the boots and cowlings, and then mounted it one some flat chassis...

Done probably 15 or 20 pairs this way. Cut the blade off of the ice cowl and then mount the chassis. My preferred chassis has been the 405-5 from SureGrip but they are difficult to find now. I prefer them because they allow you to rocker the first and last wheels.

405-5, there's a guy on ebay who has been selling them. cant remember his ebay ID, but normally he sells them at about 4.99 starting price.

If you do see it online, you can send him a msg and ask if he has more...

*edit...

Found this on ebay. Not the same seller, but thats not too bad a price on a chassis. Too bad its the 305-5 though. Still works I guess.

The 305-5 is almost the same chassis without the ability to rocker the wheels and that is not a requirement for many. Still a good starting point for a set of inline goalie skates.

I am not exactly sure what a drill-bit saw is but I'd be concerned about burning out the motor trying to cut the plastic as it is fairly tough. I've used both jig-saws and a band saw to accomplish the trick of the initial cut followed by careful dremel and sanding work to smooth out the bottom of the cowling. The chassis is mounted either with rivets or graf-style screws.
