New Stick....S17, S11, or Elite?

Recommended Posts

I am in the market for a new stick. Currently I have an old easton cyclone shaft 95 flex with composite blade forsberg curve that I really only use for outdoor, and a synergy 300 95 flex sakic curve that I have been using for indoor.

I think I want to go with an 85 flex forsberg since I am mostly playing offense and taking wrist shots. That way I could use my current synergy 300 for defense and the new stick with lower flex for offense.

That said, I am not sure whether to go with the S17, S11, or Elite. Thoughts? I've read mixed reviews on the S17 durability, which is why I am not sure if I want to go that route, plus it is the more expensive of all of the above. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Honestly... i was worried about the s17 durability also. If your going to get that stick i would look at it in a pro shop or something if thats available to you. Why? To me the s17 has a crazy amount of whip. So dropping to a 85 flex maybe pointless. Its a very durable stick. Obviously anything could happen in a hockey game but i played with it for 3 months probably playing 4 times avg during the week. I dont have it now cause i traded with a friend cause i didnt like the whippy feeling.

What did you trade it for?

I am looking for a good amount of whip since I mainly take wrist and snap shots. Though I did read that the 100 flex S17 feels like other 85 flex sticks. Does anyone have any experience with the elite or S11? They are both cheaper than the S17 as well.

reviews look OK I guess. I don't think my sticks get the amount of abuse the reviewers do, but I am basically between the S17 and SE. 85 flex Forsberg curve either way. Tough call.

with sticks its all personal preference, each stick is going to have a slightly different feel, so its tough for everyone to provide you with what is "best" just because its different for each user.

I was going through the same tough decision. For one, i eliminated the Elite right off the bat. The blade wasn't durable and 2 Elite blades broke on me within 45 days. Next it was between the S17 and the S11. My LHS had both in stock and I really liked the feel of the shaft of the S17 but the S11, felt.. "too bulky" to me. I didn't go with either one of those sticks. I went with the Synergy ST '08. I have had it for about 3 weeks now, and I couldn't be happier. The Shox technology that Easton put into the ST this year, is really nice. It has a nice forgiving but very very solid blade. I receive passes nice and smooth, and the puck seems to rocket off the blade when I shoot and fly nicely when I pass.

HockeyMonkey has a low stock of these now, but I ordered my ST off ePuck.

I have always had great experiences with them, but now they are owned by HockeyGiant and makes ePuck that much better. Now I'm not saying better than HM or IW but it's up there.

Anyways..

I couldn't be happier with the ST, really nice stick and the Shox technology is a very nice little feature.

Hope this helps!

Are STs and SLs no longer being made by those names? The Synergy Elite compare to the SL right? Is the ST just no longer made period? I've only been able to find S17, Elites, and Stealths around.

I recently purchased an s17 coming from my vapor xxx and I thought it was amazing. It really changed my shot for the better. That is Untill I broke the blade 10 days after I baught it... Let's hope the warranty replacement holds up better. Oh and my vapor was a 67 flex and the s17 was a 65 and I didn't think it was any whippier than the vapor.
