Repairing rip in pants

I have a relatively new pair of CCM pants (less than a year). A couple of games back I noticed that somehow a perfectly square patch of the outer nylon was torn off the right thigh, exposing the black foam and padding underneath. The square is about 1 inch x 1 inch. After last night's game I also have a nice 2 inch slice on the same thigh.

Any advice on how to repair this? I'm thinking maybe I should go down to the local fabric shop and pick up some nylon along with some heavy duty adhesive to try to patch it? Or if I can't find the appropriate material I can always cut a patch from my old pair of pants. But how would I adhere the patch? Spray the adhesive and try to attach it from inside the hole? Slap in on top and hope it stays?

ive never tried it but i guess you could stitch it and that would last longer, but i dont know?
