One95 vs XXXX

Recommended Posts

Because of where I live I don't have the ability to try skates on without flying somewhere or an extremely long drive. I have always worn Bauer (for 30 years) and have most recently had the xxx and xxxx's. My xxx were 8.5 E and ended up being just a tad too narrow and not deep enough. My xxxx's are 8 EE and the width/length is great but still not deep enough, otherwise they fit very comfortable. My inside ankle bump on my left foot has become enlarged. After surgery the pain stopped but the bump is still fairly big. When wearing my xxxx's the ankle bump almost comes to the lace holes. like I mentioned, after surgery it is no longer painful but I would love to have this bump actually fit somewhere in the ankle packs rather than the flat spot between the ankle packs and the lace holes. I have read on here that the One95 is deeper and wider so my questions is two-fold. Would the deeper One95's help with my ankle bone issue and is it likely that the bone will sit a tad deeper, hopefully somewhere within the ankle pad? Also would the EE One95's end up being too wide? Using an old Bauer Brannock device to size my feet i am just between the E and EE widths and my EE XXXX's definitely felt better than my E XXX.

I am in my skates ALOT playing, reffing and coaching. Comfort is extremely important. I would go custom but after flights and the cost of the skates it would be more than I really want to spend. Feedback from JR, Chadd, or that NBH R&D guy would be really great but all feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance.

By the way I had always worn supremes but after a hiatus from hockey and an unsuccessful trial of ccm 1052's I was given the pair of xxx's. I wish I had a pair of the 8090's since many compare them to the One95's but I didn't. The last supremes I had were 4000's and they were great as far as I can remember.

I also have the ankle bone problem. Its been the same for XX's, XXX's and XXXX's. My XXXX's 10.5 EE. The One95's I fit nicely at 11 D. I believe the ankle bone issue would be gone with these boots. This NB supreme One95 skate is trying to bring back those who wore the old supreme skates.

As for me it looks like RBK 9K's. I was very impressed on how they felt out of the box.
