problems with the RBK skate cowling

Recommended Posts

just wondering if any one else out there has had problems with the RBK goal skate cowling like i have with the blade clicking everytime you touch the ice. i tried putting washers in to make it tighter but you couldn't get the screws tight enough to stay in for if a hard shot happened to hit your skate.

I've never heard of the screws coming out because of a "hard shot," and have always been told that the clicking of the blade fore and aft is purely an auditory annoyance, not a structural fault.

However, if you really want to get rid of it, there is a way. Rather than putting washers under the screw heads, get some M6 metric washers (stainless, ideally) and put them over the barrels of the nuts, on the other side of the skate. The M6 washers fit flush to the barrels of the nuts and to the plastic recesses on the nut side.

If you really want to go nuts, you can add thin rubber washers to the screw side as well.
