Ankle problem with vapor xxxxs

Recommended Posts

Okay, i have a problem with my ankle caused by vapor xxxx skates. My ankle has sweld up the size of a golfball and the trainer says its because of the skates im wearing. i know how to get the swelling down and all that but they said that it wont go down untill i get a new pair of skates, i have looked at the pumps because they seem like the pump will offer better padding to my ankle. Do you guys have any other recomendations

I have seen two friends have ankle problems with the XXXX, mainly to the padding around the ankle either breaking down quickly or the placement of the pad was so off that his ankle was not being supported properly. Poor construction.

Anyhoo, any skate would almost solve the problem, the pump pads are more for helping the heel lock, but it can help with comfort too. I demoed the skates and found it helped with my bad asian feet, wide forefoot with narrow heel, and it felt great right out of the box without heating. The new One95's with the anaform construction fits great (my next pair of skates, again I demoed them) and the U+ Pro skates also will help fit around the foot better.

I really don't like the Vapor line, many of the skates sold had problems with poor construction, and some guys will not buy any Vapor skates again (many went to the One09/One95 with no problems).

Cheers

I'm having the same problem with my XXVs on one ankle. My left ankle bone is almost off the padding and very very close to the eyelets...will punching that area solve the problem?

This problem happened to both me and my friend who HAD the XXXX's we both ended up with those golfballs you're talking about. Ours were from the padding breaking down too quick leaving hard plastic there digging into our ankles. My suggestion is to either go for new skates or you can go to a shoemaker/repair place and look into something like this... http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...504&st=7273

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I cannot get new skates as I picked up my XXVs two days ago! I'll probably bring it to the LHS and see what they can do..hopefully punching out does the trick!

*EDIT* I just re-read your reply and it's not the same problem. My problem is that the bone on my left ankle (my right foot is fine) is in an area that is too close to the eyelets and it's sitting at the edge of the padding so it's getting very little, if any cushioning. I'll take pictures once i find my camera.

maybe cut an old mouse pad to put near that area to give a little more comfort? just throwing out a suggestion after I remembered reading about that in the Wicked 1 thread.
