i love the thing even tho its close to 15 years old - I LOVE IT.

i can see everything, its like nothing is in front of my face.

ive tried the Itechs, i dont like em. i got a big head and the itechs were very narrow.

not to mention the down vision was awful.

ive heard you lot talk about the olie's and have been leaning toward one of those.

one of the keepers here has one and he says the down vision is great.

also, according to the web site, they are in my price range <$500.

are there any others out there that you can recommend?

im looking to do something in the next 2 weeks.

as been mentioned before with someone in your same predicament, have a look at the Sportsmask Mage 1 or 2. Although i've never tried them so I can't speak for their comfort and other factors...but might be worth a serious look if you think you're going to have a hard time adjusting to the new buckets.

Definitely look into a Mage - Sportmask makes a great bucket.

Apart from that, I would *highly* recommend going custom. Even if you're just mailing in a mold, or something as rudimentary as asking for a wider, taller opening to improve your field of vision (re: your complaint about stock Itech's). I suspect Hackva is still the cheapest way to go there, although Sportmask and Quantum could definitely do well by you. If money's no object, hell, get a Pro's Choice or a Warwick!

Just out of curiosity, what would be a figure to go down to Det and get a custom Warwick molded, and then a moderate artwork done with Razor?

A lot... but worth every penny, from what I've seen. Less than a pair of custom pads, certainly - and so much more important.

One of the nice things about most mask-makers is that if you're willing to make the trip in person, they can spell your options out pretty clearly. There are always ways they can accommodate someone with a lower budget without sacrificing craftsmanship. If you have X to spend, they'll let you know what your options are; they would rather take that X in cash from you than have it go to someone else. There are limits, of course, to what their materials and time are worth, but the smaller, less industrial outfits don't generally turn people away cold.
