Some help with my skates....

So i've purchased the mission boss skates this past summer and have used them a lot, enough so they are definitely broken in. I came from using a mission D-limited skate with a normal hi-lo chassis. I feel since I've moved to the boss that its so inconsistent with comfort and sometimes performance (for me at least). Now granted i've always had a problem with my left foot and boots due to an accessory navicular bone so i cant blame anyone but myself. But today I went back to my d-limited's and although I had some pain which I skate through, I felt so great skating which I havent felt yet in my Boss skates. My question is, could it be the small change from a regular hi-lo to vanguard or the difference in stiffness of the boot (which is a lot i'd say)?? I feel so much lighter and faster on my feet with the D-limited. Im just frustrated because of all the money i spent on the skate sorry about the venting!!

Possibly that you havent really gotten used to the vanguard setup. I've had the same feeling, growing up on mission Proto series skates with the hi-lo, then going to some wicked 1's and 7's. To this day, I still havent gotten the full confidence with the vanguards as I do on the hi-los. I doubt if it would affect your stiffness of the skates, more like the pitch at which you are leaning on.

Have since switched to sprungs, and I'm convinced that they are great. I did a relatively direct comparison, wearing some sprungs and vanguards on the same day. Felt so much more agile on the sprungs, and the vanguards kinda made me feel very ackward.

I think it is the stiffness of the skate. Try skipping the top eyelet to give you a bit more forward flex. The D-limited was just a S500 skate with DNA lacing. The Boss is very similar to the S500, but with additional PVC ankle counter to help with stiffness and durability, and a material used on the quarter to make the skates lighter and stiffer.

I wore my skates tonight and my ankles just had a burning sensation the whole game it was torture. I'll definitely try skipping the top eyelet when i go to open hockey on thursday. I'm pretty convinced its the stiffness as well because if i squeeze my D-limited together i can flex the boot so much with my hands but with the Boss it barely moves (not a good test but you know what i'm saying lol). I've stuck with mission my whole life and love their product so i'll try anything. Btw I had the skates baked and punched in 1 spot do you think baking them again would help?

So i tired un-doing the top eyelets and at first in the locker room I thought it felt great. When i started skating it felt like i was going to break my ankles even though i tied pretty tight. Just not enough support. I guess the next step is to try and bake them again!

Dont know if I read this wrong, but it sounds like you left all 3 top eyelets untied...Justin ment just the very top one....When I first got the Wicked series skates I left the very top eyelet(1) untied and didnt tie the skates very tight...The skates do feel a bit loose on your foot at first, and there is a bit more pressure in the toe area due to your foot being pushed a little more forward, But it worked for me, I felt way less pain all the way around and actully got used to, and feel more compfy skating with looser skates....This is coming for a guy who used to tie his skates as tight as possiable...

no just the top eyelet is the only one i left untied, my fault if you misunderstood. I never liked my skates too tight or too loose. But with the top eyelet untied I really felt ridiculous. I'll give it a try again we'll see.
