redi edge sharpener

I did a search on the redi edge sharpener, but the posts were few and rather old. Anyone have any more recent experience with these. I got one, and it seemed to do a pretty good job on my son's skates, but he hasn't skated on them yet. I haven't used it on my skates yet. The one thing that concerns me is the kind of rippled cross pattern that gets put in the hollow. The mfg. says this doesn't affect anything. I think for sure the redi edge is more effective than the profiler, which I've also used in the past. The profiler is great for getting a little bit more use out of the blades before sharpening, but that's about all. Using the redi edge, you can really see the shavings coming off the blades when you sharpen.
