CCM U+ mod.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I want to change my holders and steel on CCM U+ (size 8,5D\steel length 280) for tuuk lightspeed II. What size of holders and steel should I get? In store they tell me that I have to go with the 288.

Thanks in adv.

People swear a 280 is a 280 is a 280, I had size 9D pro tacks and had Tuuk's switched over, they came stock with 280E-Pros and was going to put 280 LS2's put on but it was clear that 280's would look small and probably feel small under the skates. I decided to go with the 288's and they felt right on the skate. I would get 288's, they will fit the way the 280's do now.

Dude, everyone messes this up but I learned the hard way.

Go with the 280's. The size IS the same. The reason everyone messes it up is because when the Tuuk's are off the skates they have more curve. Thats why they have better feel though. They create tension when tightened down, and they also flatten to the right length. But if you hold them up next to each other when off the skates, they "appear" shorter.

I went through the exact same thing on Vector pro's a couple years ago. I went with the 288's but I guarantee once you put them on you will notice they are too long. With the shorter radius I did keep them because I didn't want to put any more holes in them. But the 280 IS the right size.

P.S. If your shop doesn't know this you may want to consider a different shop to do the work.
