Strong Sticks Needed!

Recommended Posts

anytime, so yeah if you have the ak-27 its standard, the one95 would be an excellent choice as well. Yeah I used the sakic for years myself, tried a 5 lie and havent gone back.

All breaking at the shaft. I play 4 times a week, and i do rip at the puck but I never thought I ate too much of the ice. I don't really want to change the way I shoot because it works, I just want to find a durable stick.

It does sound like your grabbing too much ice. Try shortening the next stick by at least 1/2". You should start seeing a bit better results regarding breakage.

Stop slashing...lol Most sticks break because of damage during contact weakening an area of the stick, then breaking when you go to shoot.

You could also try a lower flex. Contrary to popular belief lower flexes are less likely to break on a shot because they're more "rubbery". So they give instead of breaking. Like a cooked noodle versus and uncooked one.

Try a stick with a different flex zone. I've had really good luck with the AK 27 which is a mid kick point. Since it flexes higher on the shaft its a little more forgiving.

It is a good point, as a very stupid and unknowledgeable teenager I used 110 flex sticks cause I had a better slapshot with them and thought they were stronger, when cut down they had to be anywhere from 130-115. I snapped 3 u/l's, t'flex, synergy shafts and a couple other cheap shafts/woodies. I took alot more slapshots back then but I was also only 135-150 at the time which was ridiculous, switched to 85 6 months ago and I'm thinking of trying 77 now, 0 broken sticks.

I've tried not necessarily a flexier stick but I have tried using a longer Z-Bubble that was a 100 flex with probably a one and a half inch insert at the end, and it was way too whippy. My snapshots were great but I could barely lift my slapshot.

I think this NBH 102 flex is more flexier then the synergy 100 (also could be because it is taller), so it is a change that I can work with, as my snapshot has become very good and my slapshot is fine. If I could somehow progressively move down to a lower flex that could also be an option however moving straight down to an 85 flex probably won't do me too good.
