Mission Thorax Wrap Hockey Girdles

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experiance with the Mission Thorax Wrap Girdle?

Im wondering whether the wrap concept is a good idea, or whether it will more around and be uncomfortable.

I havent gotten this current model yet, but used the Icon model years ago (still use it for my backup). I've found it to be really good, protection is great, and convenient to use.

If i had a chance I wouldnt mind using it again.

Im tossing up whether or not the convinence of the wrap is worth it.

Much later down the track, if I wanted extra protection Id have to wear Jill shorts underneath the girdle. Double layer ftl.

How often does one cop something to the groin?

I wear the Thorax, which is the older model of the DSX. Free moving, lightweight and decently protective. The wrap is better for tournaments where you have several games in a day, so you can slide your pants down and take it off instead of taking your skates and everything else off

Im guessing the wrap style girdles have a looser fit than the other style?

(If I ever win lotto, Im going on a hockey shopping holiday in the US)

Edit: one more question, the padding up the top on the wrap girdle, worthwhile or not? (then again, girls dont play full contact hockey)

(Im one of these people that buy something once and wears it until it literally falls apart, hence all the questions)

I love my thorax girdle. If i played a lot of D and blocked more shots, i think i'd want something a little more protective. I play a fairly physical game, and mostly forward. I'm a big guy (6'2" 240lbs) and i find that the thorax is not restricitve at all. It gives just enough padding to take the sting out of slides, but not a whole lot of protection. But then again, we're talking roller hockey here. But definitely my favorite girdle that i've ever had. Definitely wear come kinda groin protector. One of the younger guys that plays with the adults in shinny never wears a cup. I was nagging on him especially hard that night. Got nailed in the cajones. He's a real puck hog, and i can't hardly stand him, but i still felt bad. ALWAYS protect your 'future'.

I have the old Bilt Rite model and still use it to this day after some 8+ years. I was looking at the black and red ones pictured in this thread but never found the need to buy another pair. I haven't had any issues with the Wrap type and would recommend it.

Thanks everyone. After some good female advice Ive decided to skip the wrap style girldes due to difference between the shape of male and female hips, and will be going with the more traditional style.

I managed to have a chat with another lady whilst at pickup last night and figured out what size to buy based on her sizings.

FYI: Senior small in a mission thorax is about a size 10 in chick terms

Time to take the advice given to me at my last lesson "stop being such a girl, go buy a girdle and start falling over"
