hey, not really sure about the skates, but as far as the glove goes, I guess as long as it works for you its okay. I think an intermediate sized glove would work well for you as its in between both sizes. I have pretty small hands too, and I find some gloves to feel too loose. I use Senior gloves, but I just strap everything very tightly, so thats also an option as you mentioned.

It depends.

Old intermediate glove sizing (pre-lockout gear) was basically NHL-spec. If it's an Intermediate Pro model made domestically, odds are it's just as protective and durable as any current retail NHL-spec glove. My Int. TPS Bionic is exactly that: a scaled down version of their top-of-the-line senior glove. The Junior Bionic, however, had some compromises in materials and design.

Basically, the new NHL regulations eliminated two sizes: the old Senior (huge) and the old Intermediate. Now there are usually only three: Senior/NHL-spec, Junior and Youth. Junior and Youth aren't going to cut it against adult shooters. If your hands are that small, you'll need a custom glove - which, frankly, will still be cheaper than high-end retail.
