Easton Stealth 555's

Recommended Posts

Hey, its my first post I hope I'm in the right place.

My local Source for sports is having a sale and I'm thinking of buying these white Easton 555's. The thing is I've never seen them anywhere and I can't seem to find them anywhere on the net to compare prices etc. So, I guess my question is does anyone have any info on them/own a pair and could give me some info?

I'm pretty sure i remember reading that the 555s were SMU (special make-up) products. If so, then there isn't going to be anywhere else to compare prices. The closest would be to find out what catalogue item the 555s are closest to and compare that way.

Usually SMUs are a product with a different paint job, something cosmetic. In some cases they are a new item, but very rarely.

How much were they originally priced at?

i know with source for sports the triple number heirarchy goes 333, 555, 777, 999

so you are probably looking at a lower mid level skate

these SFS SMU's are generally a common product with maybe an upgraded or special feature or two.

for instance, i know that 333's are a S3 boot with S7 steel

I hope that gives you some direction as to where that sits on the great totem pole of hockey gear

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm not sure what the original price was but they're on for 200, which is pretty much my max. Myelinsport, in terms of skate blades, the s7 steel would be one of the better or worse?

possibly. Not sure exactly what the 555s are comparable to in the Stealth line, but it's definitely possible.

alright, thanks again.

Also, does anyone know if its a good idea to bake an easton skate. A friend of mine asked the same store before if he should with a different model and they said it would make the skate weaker, any truth to this. Like with an s7 or s11 would this be a factor.

I take ut back the 999's a comparable to the s11's.

Yeah, so the 555's must be the s7's.

Yeah it sounds like thats what they are.

999 is comparable to S11

555 is comparable to S7

333 is comparable to S3

keep in mind comparable means close... but they may be slightly better or not. I think in this case it is an S7 with a custom paint job...

If we thought about it this way what would the 777 be?

probably an upgraded S7

or it could even be in an altogether different line.

i recall there was a synergy 777 stick for a time

its complicated but i think that to answer the original question is that considering the price range and other models surrounding the skate that it is most comparable to an S7 maybe even between S7 and S3

i think that it is likely a difference in the paint job but who knows.

at 200 dollars its not a high end skate which leaves it in the company of the S3 and S7.

Well I bought them yesterday and had them out for practice today. An excellent skate a giant upgrade from my old RBK 2k's, so much lighter and more comfortable, plus you dont have to tie them super tight to have them fit you feet well. I am very pleased, thanks for the help guys.
