Adult Hockey Camps

Recommended Posts

So in another post I explained that I have been out of hockey for a few years due to life commitments and that I am now getting back to the sport and getting serious about improving my game. With my desire to improve my game and too try and work on some of my “personal skills” short comings I have been looking at “adult hockey camps” for last few weeks such as the “Can Am” camp etc. and I was curious as to if anyone here has ever attended an “adult hockey camp” and if so what ones would you recommend.. Thanks in advance for any advice or direction given…

Thanks,

Ian

There is another thread and a consensus seemed to be that camps seem to help for some but a contrasting idea was tossed about that getting one on one skating instruction was just as benificial towards game development as an actual camp.

Try looking for a weekly clinic at your local rink. Camps are nice and a fun way to improve skills but they are usually a couple of days and can't really focus on the weak parts of your game.

A clinic would be once a week spread out over a bunch of weeks so not only would the same coach be able to help you with your specific needs over a longer period of time, you would also have time in between classes to work on everything.

I attend a clinic every year and a camp and the camp is more of a vacation with hockey. I learn some stuff but the 7 week clinic I take is where I really improve my skills.

Thanks for the comments guys! Per your suggestions I am now going to be dong a weekly adult clinic/ school at my local rink and after looking into the program it doesn’t look bad as there is a verity of different experience levels in the group and the different smaller groups are broken down by putting players of the same caliber to work together. So I will get to work on basics as well as what I need to work on in my personal game with others of a similar experience level.

My desire to go to camp this summer s still there though for kind of a mini vacation with hockey.. Miserable what camp do you go to? Anyone else have any other camp suggestions?

Another adult camp is one that is put on by Roger Neilson Hockey Camp. I worked there past summer and they had an adult evening/night camp in early august. This summer i believe they are put the week long camp and a camp that is one night every week throughout the summer.
