Is this a problem with my Graf Ultra ?

Recommended Posts

Hey I tried searching the threads and didn't see anything regarding the ultra series. So I hope I can post this without anyone getting upset.

So I bought a pair of graf ultra's and after about 20 skates now, it looks like the carbon insole is separating from the boot. When I push up towards the boot it also moves and you can see a small gap in between. It basically looks like it has not been fused on proper. I have this problem with both my skates on both sides but only in the center of the boot and a little around the toe caps. Can this be fixed or is this possibly a defect? Or is this nothing? I hang them out to dry after every game too. Also what do you guys recommend I do, if these were yours would you return them? Has anyone else experienced this same problem with the ultra series? Thanks. There's a picture below to helps show where I'm referring too.

It's a common problem with Graf skates period; more noticeably with the previous Supra G series and their carbon outsole. Granted outsole separation occurs on other brands as well, it should not impede the boots performance as the holders are keeping the outsole on as well. One of the reasons for this is the lexan outsole (not carbon, what you see is paper with a carbon print underneath a translucent outsole) not flexing with the boot so separation occurs. You are fine but for some reassurance, take them back to the shop and ask for an opinion, worse comes to worse you will receive a warranty replacement. Hope this helps :)

This also happened with my Supra 703. As the previous poster stated, it's because the outsole does not flex with the boot. Does not seem to affect performance and appears to be a common occurence with skates that are built to be very stiff.
