Any Mission Wicked Ice Skate Reviews?

Recommended Posts

Has anybody tried the Mission Wicked Ice Skates? I love the Pitch holders. I have a pair of Mission S400s 9.5D now that are just slightly long and slightly tight in the forefoot. Any help on sizing would be great.

I don't have a full review but here is some basic info from somebody who owns a pair of Fuel 95XP skates in 9D and Mission Wickeds in 9E

The Mission wicked is basically a SMU of the AGX skate design with lower-end materials. The boot cut is relatively low. Mission skates tend to run narrow, so in my case the 9E fits just fine (it took me some time to break in my 95XPs in 9D as the boot was too narrow initially). The E width on these is comparable to what most brands would call a D, so don't expect a wide skate in this case.

I would say these boots represent a good value at $100 considering the steel, holders, and overall quality which is good. I don't know exactly what it is but they feel pretty different on the ice compared to my 95s. I don't know if it's just the low boot cut that makes the difference but it's definitely different from the old XP line. Heel lock for me is superior for me on these in comparison to the 95s. I think the heel is a little tighter though, so it may be a struggle if you have a large heel.

All said and done these are a good value if they fit you properly and you like a lower boot cut. I definitely would not buy them without trying them on (but I guess that's true with anything). I prefer the heel lock and bit of extra width compared to my 95s, but the 95s are lighter (moderately better materials), have somewhat better felt tongues, and have a more traditional boot cut which I think I prefer. I'd give my 95s the edge overall I think. Considering I got my 95s on sale for $120 and the Wickeds for $100, they offered a similar value.

I hope that helps.
