Just had 74a wheels chunk playing outside... advice?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I had a bunch of my wheels chunk after playing on a "smooth" outdoor surface. It is painted concrete and it has some cracks that are the reason my wheels chunked. I was using 74A Rink Rats. What hardness should I get for outdoor concrete with cracks? Should I get the 78A "multi-surface" wheels or go for the 84A "outdoor" wheels. If I get outdoor, will I fall on quick turns and stops?

Always go with the 84a outdoor wheels. I recommend Labeda Asphalts. You will notice some SLIGHT sliding in stops and sharp turns, but it is easy to remedy.

Simple rules:

Indoor (sportcourt/icecourt)=78a,76a,74a

Outdoor (any surface other than sportcourt/icecourt) smooth concrete, rough asphalt, even indoor wood...Go with 80a or higher

Of course personal prefrence weight etc..always plays a factor...But a general rule for outdoors is 80a or higher....
