Any reviews of the Mission Fuel 120 XP's?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to get a pair of Mission Fuel 120 XP in size 11D ice skates and wanted to know if they were any good. Hockeymonkey is the only place I can find some for sale (also looking at 110 XP, but they don't have it in an 11D). If anybody has used any of either the 120's or 110's, let me know. I've used Mission for all of my inline days and tried switching to Bauers when I switched to ice recently. Needless to say, it didn't work out and I want to go with Missions again since they have never let me down. Let me know your thoughts on them and/or if you know another place selling them for around the $200 mark like Hockeymonkey is. Thanks guys.

Also, if anyone is interested in my old pairs, let me know. Otherwise, I might throw these up on eBay.

Bauer XXII - 11.5EE - $100 (used 4 games)

Bauer X:30 - 10D - $160 (used 1 game)

I'm currently writing one. Anything in particular you'd like to know in advance? I don't know how to answer your question of 'are they any good' because it's purely subjective. They are/were one of Mission's highest end skate. Suffice it to say it's one of the finest skates I've put on my feet and I've tried a lot.

I used the L7 exclusively and progressed to the 120XP. They are a very stiff skate, so if you like something a little more low cut they are definitely not for you. But again, if there are any specifics you are looking for, just ask.

Thanks man. I'm open to anything you can offer about the skate. Maybe like durability, holders, runners, and the tightness you can get around your ankle. Missions are the only ones that can get the right tightness around my ankle. That's big for me I guess.

That's why I'm looking at the XP's instead of the AG's since I heard the AG's are lower.

Durability is second to none. I will put the XP's against any flavor of the month Bauer offering, and they'll win every time in durability. The XP's aren't the lightest skate, but who cares? If you have legs like a man, it shouldn't make a difference. In a word, the XP skate is bulletproof.

The holders are Pitch 3. Again, some of the finest a skater could ask for. The steel holds it's edge for longer than most.

Mission cleaned up the ankle lock pretty well between the L series and XP. I always had some dead space around my ankle, only because they've been broken several times through motocross and skateboarding. The ankle lock in my XP boots is perfect.

The one thing I'll 'caution' you about is that I don't believe Mission run true to shoe size as most hockey sites suggest. I was typically wearing a 10EE (wide) in Mission boots, while I am 10.5 shoe. I've since gone down to a 9.5EE (wide) Mission boot and the fit is so stunningly perfect, it makes me regret all the lost time in the 10's.

Again, I'm finishing up a full review and will be submitting it in the next week or so. I am fiercely loyal to Mission skates and will never wear anything but. I suggest you buy 2 pairs if you are getting them for $200. I was at a shop near where I am living right now, and bought up the last 2 pairs in my size the guy had on closeout. Between the backup L7's and XP's I have now, I'll never go through them all.
