dsjunior1388 81 Report post Posted July 4, 2009 Last year I had a brillian internship at a local company that sells Diesel Engines. Made a lot of money for a guy just out of his 1st year of college, and gained some valuable experience. This year I expected to get the job again, but they couldn't afford an internship program. After an unbelievably frustrating summer of not working, (I have tried and will continue to try to find a job but I'm in Michigan, without a car, and let's just say it doesn't look good for the home team)The other thing I really plan to do is get out of state next summer. I hope to work in Michigan after college, but I think it's important to get out of my comfort zone and go off on my own. (I go to college 2 hours away from home, so mommy and daddy are still close enough when I need rescuing. So I absolutley plan to go out of state, and due to the nature of hockey, even work out of the country.Anyway, I am all ready planning for next summer, because I never want to go through this experience again. So of course, I start out playing to my strengths, and interests. I am looking for an Internship in Hockey. Whether it's with a team, a manufacturer, I just want first and foremost to find an internship somehow related to Hockey. I will be drafting letters to every brand, team, and hockey related organization I can think of and mailing them out in the early fall. If anyone is aware of any opportunities or has any advice for me, I'd love to hear it and it would be immensely helpful.PS for what it's worth I am going to be a junior at Central Michigan University majoring in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations. I am also carefully considerring picking up a minor in Marketing, so of course those two fields would be my main focus in the search. However I would be ready and willing to accept almost any full-time internship if it meant I would be able to work in the business of my favorite sport.
