Easton Synergy ST shaft

Recommended Posts

Stupid question - which part of the shaft is the top? Not a noob to hockey by any means. but placing the blade into where I thought was the bottom part of the shaft (where it says Synergy) there seems to be a great amount of "play" or the blade does not fit snugly. It seems like I would have to put at least 4 strips of tape there just to hold it securely. The other end, which i think is the top, seems to taper somewhat and the blade fits without any real looseness. For anyone that owns one, did you have the same experience or did I get a bum shaft? Using an Easton Pro wood blade fwiw. Thx.

I have the same shaft, and had sort of the same problem. I just put one strip over the top of the hosel and put on a bit more glue, and haven't had any issues since. And yes, the end that says synergy is the end the blade goes in. Are you sure you don't have a junior blade and senior shaft?

tapered blade in an ST? I thought the ST was the replacement for the Ultalite, which means that its a standard shaft?

One or two layers of tape I can understand for a cut OPS, but shouldnt have any problem with an actual shaft itself. Also, I think the shaft should have some markings where you cut the shaft to get the desired flex (that should be to the top end where your hand goes).

It's a senior (traditional) blade. Well, I did take the blade out of the old shaft that broke, so there may have not been a lot of glue on it, but even still, there seem to be gaps on either side where the blade just moves back and forth. I usually always put one strip of tape and it fits fine. I'll try getting a different blade to see if it's the same. Thx guys.

There's a thread on this somewhere. A couple guys were having the same issue. I've looked at the shaft myself in stores and saw that the insertion point is very well bigger than it should be. This is what stopped me from buying the shaft. I remember the guys who had the shaft saying that the ST blade fit well with the shaft.

I thought so and I tried searching for it. Kinda sucks that they probably designed it that way lol. Oh well, I'll probably put a few pieces of tape around the hosel and live with it.
