Time for new skates?

Recommended Posts

I'm in a pair of Easton 1500. I've had them for a few years. I think it might be time for new skates. I am 5'9 165, play in a beer league and pickup about 3 times a week total. I consider myself a strong skater and do put a lot of strain on them. I would estimate I have put about 3-400 hours of time on these. I know Easton durability is not so hot, but I'm wondering if this carbon boot can really soften up that much over time and use.

Reasons that make me curious:

-I lace them up nice and tight, with wax laces if it matters. Then after about 15-20 minutes of skating they are loose and my foot shifts around a little bit. I never had this problem before.

-Just recently got lacebite on the tongue

-Got hit the inside of my foot by a not so hard pass and it hurt for a day or 2. I've been hit similarly in the past and did not feel it so much.

-It may be psychological, but i feel like the boot is softer and I don't feel the ice as much.

Any input would be appreciated minus, going with another brand or the crummy durability of Easton skates. I will more than likely be returning to Bauers. I was offered a pair of new one95's for <450 and was wondering if this is a good deal. Will they be cheaper in the near future?

You say crummy durability but you've made those things last longer then most One90s have lasted, and the generation of skate you're using right now is the one with the worst reputation. I'd say you're doing fine on that front.

And I would say the One95s are a good deal if they fit well. They won't be going on discount with a new model coming out for another year, so I would say that's a good deal for this point in time.
