What blades do I need?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I got some broken OPSs that I want to turn into two piece sticks and my question is, do I need tappered blades or standard? The sticks in question are an Compro E2X, Easton S11, NB One90, and a NB XXX. I am going to be using one of these for inline on sport court and I would get the best blade for that one, so what would be the best shaft that I should use for that. All the others will be used for street hockey so I know that I need an ABS blade and that they mostly only come standard so what shafts would those be. Thanks for any help.

Most of the information you need can be found here:

Depending on where the OPS's are broken, you can probably fit a tapered or standard. Tapered will give you better feel, obviously, so that'd be best for the inline stick. Street sticks matter less. Cut low to start and then a little at a time until you're at the point where a tapered blade will fit. I'm pretty sure the XXX and the One90 are true OPS so you shouldn't have to deal with a tenon. I don't know about the Easton and Compro so you may have to chisel out some of the tenon. I'd resist the urge to flip the shaft and insert a standard blade. The flex and feel just never seem right.

If your Easton S11 broke at a low enough point you can use a tapered blade in it. I had a CCM Vector V10 (which I broke) & now an Easton Synergy SE16 blade in my S11 shaft & they fit great, with the Easton blade fitting slightly better. I would recommend cutting the shaft down so that the blade hosel just barely fits into the shaft, for a good tight fit.

Here's a few pics of the current setup...
