snug fitting gloves

Recommended Posts

I'm currently looking for new gloves and would like them to fit snug. I have relatively thin hands so many gloves I try on feels like I'm putting my hand inside a pillow case (well...not that extreme...but it's too roomy).

I want something that has less volume. I currently wear a size 14" in Easton S7's.

I'm not too concerned about price but would like something in the $150 range or less. Any good recommendations?

Thanks in advance

RBK 6k (good glove), Warrior Bully/Bully Pro (currently using), Nike/Bauer Supreme 90 and the ones under (their on closeout now) don't know if i'm missing anything

edit: forgot about mission fuels, their on closeout too

well if you feel size 14" are too large, then a 13" seems obvious. This was exactly what happened to me, I used 2007 Easton Stealth S5's 14" and moved down to 2008 Easton Stealth S17's 13"...they feel amazing :)

Stick with the Stealth sereis if you prefer fit, but I feel there are 2 different kinds of gloves: gloves that offer protection first (like the NB 4-Rolls) and gloves that offer a more anatomical fit, like the S17, 19, the NB Supreme, Warrior MacDaddys and perhaps the Rbk gloves.

Thanks for the reply. 'Anatomical fit' was the term I was looking for.

My Easton S7's feel great length wise but the width seems a bit wide. You think moving down to a 13" would fix that or would it be better off to get the Bauer Supreme, MacDaddy that you have mentioned?

macddady's have a tapered fit (tight in the fingers then loosens up) if i remember right (i have really small hands for someone my size) if the length is fine stick to it, you don't want your fingers pushing out the gussets and suddenly get a slash right on the fingers, not to mention it'll be really uncomfortable (unless you like that feeling )

@Aireaye a volume problem is different to a length problem :)

ahhh my very long post got deleted, o well:

- Stealth series in 2007 are MUCH bulkier and wider than 2008 or 09

-Are you S7's from 2007? do they look like this (2008)? : a140148_med.jpg

Or this (2007)? 36579873-149x149-0-0_Easton%20Easton%20Stealth%20S5%20Senior%20Ice%20Hockey%20Gloves.jpg

If its the 2007 one, then they are not anatomical at all and I recommend either getting this year's version or last year's version or even another brand of gloves. If its the 2008/2009 version then perhaps moving down an inch would be better

I have the 2007 S7's (the one that is shown in the smaller picture).

They felt fine at first but after breaking them in I just feel there is too much room width wise, even in the fingers.

Sometimes when I let my bottom hand off the stick to poke check and then go to regrip it, my index finger slips outside the finger of the glove. Would you consider this to be a problem with the length? (note that I have about 1/4" to 1/2" from the tip of the gusset to my finger tip)

maybe, it'll be a problem if you don't like it, but i've seen tiny guys with smallish hands use 15" gloves coz they like the roomy feel

i found a mid to low glove breaks in differently to a high end glove, the high end ones tend to keep to the general shape of when you first put your hands in it but the lower end ones have a lot of give and becomes really roomy, ask aireaye if he felt the difference, i never used an easton glove :) easiest way is try it on, do you have a LHS near you?

Yeah I live in Mississauga so there are plenty of shops out here. I think the best way, like you suggested, is to go try some on. My only problem is that I don't want to spend a fortune on them. Mind you I picked up the S7's for $40, but I'm willing to spend a bit more if the comfort, protection, and quality is there.

bleh problem solved lol just go with what fits best, don't worry about brand etc etc. i tend to stick around the $99 gloves best bang for the buck IMO try the New CCM 4roll if you can, they seem very well made, avoid the Rbk one for some reason its like a epro, just looks/feels cheap

Yes, for my 14" S5's, they were wearable, but much to wide and roomy as I had a hard time putting my hand on the stick after letting go. My S17's now have no problem (I got them on sale in August for $90)

lol I live in Mississauga too, I got my 2007 S5's from Hockey Experts for $45...they're currently having a sale for the 2008 S7's for $45 too :)

If you are willing to spend a bit more, than try the NB Supreme 50's at HockeyLife for $70 or the Supreme 70's for $120, unfortunately there are not a lot of sales going on now, so probably your best bet is to go with the $45 2008 S7's and Im sure you will notice a big difference

I know what the original poster is talking about.

I wear a 14' glove, fits me perfect length wise, and in the fingers, but I don't like all the room on the top side of my hand, so awhile back I created my own 'mod'.

I ordered a set of pads (that go inside the glove) from Eagle over a year ago. Put them in the little pouches that came with and super glued the pouch closed.

I slide them in and out of whatever gloves I decide to wear on any given night. It gives me a really snug - and comfortable - fit on the top side of my hand. The pad typically stays nice and snug in the glove during the whole game and I never have a problem. It's a perfect fit for me.

I will post pics tonight when I get home to show what I am trying to explain.

I know that different brands have different sizing so that if I wear a 14" in one brand I might be a 13" in another.

I know there have been several suggestions to move 1 size down, but if I do that, wouldn't my fingers feel jammed (assuming I'm moving down a size in the same model glove).

I have older model (2007?) 14" CCM Vector 6.0 right now..... anyone know how the Bauer 4 rolls would fit compared to what I have? I think they are 1" too big for me to be honest, but at the time it was hard to find blue gloves, and my old Hespelers were in desperate need or replacement.

to the original poster, you're probably not going to find anything more snug fitting than the supreme series of gloves from bauer. if 14inch is already the perfect length for you (fingertips brushing the end of the fingers of the glove) then a 14inch supreme series glove is definitely going to fit you best. The lowest profile glove I've ever tried on is the supreme one90 - I suggest you give that a try if you can.

tapered is when the fingers are snug and the gradually loosens up through the glove kinda like \/ is you imagine tightest/fingers being at where the points meet

anatomical is just tight all around, meant to hug you hand

and traditional is just loose all around

If you can wait it out, TPS is coming out with and R8 and R10 glove both in tapered form. I myself am very very excited about those. The R8 has been known to be a great glove for it's value.

Actually I think you're right. I've never seen any in stores yet though. Did you try it on? How does it fit?

kinda like the difference between the regular vs. narrow fit warrior franchises, maybe even a touch slimmer.
