Skoda10 14 Report post Posted November 21, 2009 +5 makes it running time in the 3rd in one of our leagues. So if you want to get to the bar faster, just keep it at that goal differential.Being serious though, 7 or 8 for younger kids is usually a good place to stop. Although most kids don't care how far behind they are as long as they are still competing and having fun, like most things its the parents that cause the problem. durke 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2009 I coach an 8-9 year old team. We got blown away by another team because they had a super star that scored 90% of their goals. I thought about asking the coach to perhaps limit his abilities by making him pass the puck only and not shooting the puck. I never did though. The kid would go coast to coast and score at will. Take him out of the game and it would have been much closer. I told our kids I would not want to have a teammate like that; because, when he was on the ice none of his teammates were able touched the puck.

I mean I'm not one of these people that is all "you have to worry about everyone's self esteem" if you get beat bad then you get beat bad, but the other side should at least be sportsmanlike.I don't know what you could do. I wouldn't have said anything either, I'm pretty non-confrontational. He should have had him paying D, or making 2 or 3 passes, especially since it seems there was no fear of losing that game, if you guys tied it up he could have had that kid go end to end and score.Good job turning it into a teaching opportunity for your kids though.
