cowling replacement

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I was just informed I'll be doing a cowling replacement tomorrow and need some advice.

Its a bauer xvi and I'll be putting on some older white cowlings, should I just drill through the cowling to match the boot holes or would it be beneficial to move the rivets further out from the blade. My biggest problem will be getting rivets in there, My press is just a bit to wide to press the rivets down fully on the current cowling so any advice would be greatly appreciated

If the cowling already has holes, and they aren't too close to the Skate holes..use the Cowling holes and drill the skate. But if it's a fresh new set of cowlings, go ahead and use the Skate holes from the previous holder. Don't try and move them out away from the blade, more forces at work the further away from the fulcrum of the blade and easier to pull a rivet out.
